A few good questions

Answers for a smoother move.

Pricing, delivery, rental length, and the bins themselves — the short version is here. Anything else, call (888) 615-2699.

Cost

What does it cost?

$3.95 per bin for the first week, then $1.50 per bin for each extra week. Dollies are $19.95 for the first week and $5 per dolly for each extra week. Need 100 bins or more? Same rate — there is no cap, and partial weeks count as full weeks.

Are there any other charges?

Just two things on top of the rental: the delivery and pickup distance fee — free within 5 miles of your market's anchor ZIP, then $2 per mile, out to a 75-mile service radius — and sales tax, calculated at checkout based on your delivery address. The price you see at checkout is the price — no hidden fees.

Do the bins come with labels?

Yes — every bin comes with labels included at no extra charge.

Do you have a referral program?

Good referrals are good neighbors. If you're a realtor, a property manager, or just a neighbor with a friend who is moving, we can set you up with a personalized $10-off code to share — $10 off the new customer's rental. Call or text (888) 615-2699 and we'll get your code set up. More on the referral page.

Do you sell packages or bundles?

No packages, no bundles, no guessing. You pay per bin, per week — the rate never changes no matter how many bins you take. Pick any count, from a studio stash to 100+.

How do promo codes work?

One code per checkout, $10 off, and codes never stack. Codes hide all over the place — catch Scout, try the Konami code, find the terminal, or look at the page source. If a code says it isn't running right now, that promotion has ended.

Delivery & pickup

How does delivery work?

We deliver the bins empty and pick them up when you're done. Delivery and pickup are free within 5 miles of your market's anchor ZIP — Houston 77447, Austin 78610, DFW 75075, or San Antonio 78217. Every mile beyond that is $2 per mile. The fee is estimated from your ZIP at checkout and confirmed with you before delivery.

Which areas do you serve?

Four Texas markets: Houston, Austin, Dallas–Fort Worth, and San Antonio — each with a 75-mile service radius from its anchor ZIP. If you're outside that radius, call (888) 615-2699 and we'll see what we can do.

How far ahead do I need to book?

At least 12 hours ahead — that's our minimum notice. Book earlier if you can, especially for weekends, so your delivery day is locked in.

When will my bins arrive?

Pick your delivery day at checkout. We confirm your delivery window by email and text before the day, and the driver brings the bins to your door.

How does pickup work?

We come back on your pickup date and take the bins away. Just leave them empty — we'll handle the rest.

What if I need to change my delivery or pickup date?

Your first date change is free if the new delivery date is within 60 days. Later changes are $25 each. Call or text (888) 615-2699 and we'll move it with you.

The bins

What size are the bins?

One size, and it is the right size: the Large Bin measures 27 × 17 × 12 inches — about 2.5 cubic feet of packing space (a 20-gallon standard moving tote). Sturdy, stackable, with a snap-on lid.

How many bins do I need?

A rough guide: 20 bins for a studio or 1-bedroom, 40 for most 2–3 bedroom moves, 75 for bigger homes or lots of storage, 100+ for your largest packing list. There's no cap and no penalty for taking more — it's $3.95 per bin either way.

Are these plastic bins or cardboard boxes?

Reusable plastic, through and through. No tape, no assembly, no cardboard pile to buy, break down, or recycle. We deliver the bins empty and pick them up when you are done.

Are the bins clean?

Every bin is checked and cleaned between rentals, so the ones at your door are ready to pack.

What can't go in the bins?

Bins are for household goods. Please don't load hazardous materials, wet items, or anything that could damage the bin or hurt the driver — and if you're unsure about something, call us at (888) 615-2699.

Rental length & changes

How long can I keep the bins?

As many weeks as you need — there is no rental-length cap. Partial weeks count as full weeks, so a 9-day rental is billed as 2 weeks.

What if I need more time?

Keep them longer — extra weeks are $1.50 per bin and $5 per dolly, billed per full week. Just let us know before your pickup date so we can move it.

What if I need to cancel or reschedule?

Cancel 72 hours or more before your delivery and you get a full refund. Cancel under 72 hours and the deduction is the lesser of $50 or your first-week equipment charge. There are no refunds after delivery — and no refunds while you still have our equipment: a refund comes only after the full return and inspection (within 5 business days), paid within 5 business days to your original payment method, net of any damage or missing fees and unpaid invoices. Call or text (888) 615-2699 and we'll work it out with you.

What happens if a bin is lost or damaged?

Tell us right away at (888) 615-2699. A lost or damaged Large bin is $39.95, a lost or damaged dolly is $119.95 — and any charge is confirmed with you before anything is charged.

The nerd stuff

What is a Box Nerd?

Moving is a logistics problem, and nerds love logistics problems. We did the math, measured the bins, and built the system — so your move runs like a good plan instead of a panic. Big brains. Brighter moves.

Who is the little guy running along the bottom of the screen?

That's the nerd. He runs the bottom of every page, taunting. Catch him — he tires, so you actually can — and he'll roll a D20 for a $10 code. He also hides codes in the Konami code, the terminal below, and the page source.

I found a code — how do I use it?

Enter it in the promo field at checkout. One code per rental, $10 off, and codes never stack — the fun is finding them.

What if I need help?

Call or text (888) 615-2699, or write to us — Box Nerds, 5900 Balcones Dr, Ste 100, Austin, TX 78731. A human nerd will get you rolling.

For the real nerds

There is a terminal on this page. The nerds know what to do with it. Everyone else: carry on, the rent button is below.

nerd@boxnerds — bash

Box Nerds terminal — type `help` for commands.
